When The Rookie returns for Season 9, there will be a major change for Miles (Deric Augustine). He will no longer be a rookie — and it wasn’t an easy road for him to get there. After all, he was nearly kicked out of the LAPD after going rogue in Season 8. His punishment was ultimately adjusted down to a suspension, administrative leave, and an extension for his time as a rookie. But after his actions in the finale, he’s moving up.

“I think he’s going to be thrilled that he’s not a rookie anymore. Especially in Season 8, we see him make a lot of mistakes and learn from them. So, I’m excited about that journey to see how he not relies on his cowboy instincts, but really relies on the teachings of his TOs, the three TOs he had and the intellect he learned from the mistakes that he has fortunately learned from,” Augustine told TV Insider recently. “He’s learning. He’s adapting.”….
