The news may not come as a surprise for some fans, coming nearly a year after the show's most recent fifth season concluded its run on Peacock in June 2025.
The spinoff series debuted on NBC in 2021, with Meloni reviving the hot-headed detective he played on the first 12 seasons of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit before it was revealed, in the premiere of season 13 in 2011, that Stabler had retired and relocated his family to Italy. It was an exit that Meloni later described to Entertainment Weekly as abrupt and unceremonious.….
