The Original Penalty: The NFL fined Juszczyk on September 23, 2026, for "engaging in offensive demonstrations" during a Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins, claiming he performed an imitation of chugging a beer.
The Appeal Argument: Juszczyk appealed the fine by explaining that the gesture references his nickname, "Juice," and that he has performed the routine for years without issue.
The Hypocrisy Point: Juszczyk also noted that penalizing a player for mimicking a drink was hypocritical given the NFL's heavy corporate sponsorships with beer brands like Bud Light.
Policy Change: Following the appeal, the NFL and the NFLPA issued a joint statement clarifying that player celebrations imitating a beverage will no longer result in fines, provided they do not violate rules against violent or gang-related gestures.
