Dolphins rookie LB Jacob Rodriguez is married to Emma Rodriguez, a West Point graduate and active-duty U.S. Army officer who flies UH-60 Black Hawk medevac helicopters.
The two are high school sweethearts from Wichita Falls, Texas, and have spent years balancing two completely different high-level careers. Emma graduated from West Point in 2023 and is stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, where she serves as a Black Hawk pilot and platoon leader.
While Jacob was becoming one of college football’s best defensive players at Texas Tech last season, Emma was serving in the Army — and would still make the roughly nine-hour drive from Kansas to Lubbock to watch him play. Jacob has said of his wife: “I wouldn’t be the person I am without her.”
Now their journey has reached the NFL. Miami selected Rodriguez 43rd overall in the second round, and he immediately made an impression in his first game against the Raiders, leading the Dolphins with 14 tackles.
