The Wizarding World is about to get a complete makeoveras HBO's Harry Potter television reboot prepares to premiere in December.
The new series aims to recapture the magic of J.K. Rowling's original fantasy books, which chronicle student life at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the looming shadow of war as the dark lord Voldemort returns.
The new Harry Potter HBO series faces an uphill climb if it wants to win over fans still head-over-heels in love with the eight-part movie franchise, which ran from 2001 to 2011.
While many stalwart Potterheads refuse to let the series replace the movies, the upcoming reboot has a secret weapon that gives it an automatic advantage over its predecessor (and one that compounds over time).
This will especially come in handy when the series reaches the longer installments of Rowling's books. The longest Harry Potter book is The Order of the Phoenix, which is nearly 900 pages. The movie, in contrast, is just two hours and 18 minutes long. One can only imagine how much more time the story will have to breathe with eight hour-long episodes.
