In building Silo Season 3, showrunner Graham Yost not only had to deftly juggle two wildly different timelines.
He also had to come up with a way to keep leading lady Rebecca Ferguson on-screen.
Adapted from Hugh Howey's bestselling WOOL, Shift and Dust trilogy, Apple TV's Silo in Season 1 centered on the (presumably) last 10,000 people on Earth, who live in a mile-deep structure that protects them from a toxic world outside.
Silo Season 1 covered not even half of Howey's first book. (His first, self-published take on this world represents only the first 48 pages of WOOL; the other 500 pages, starting with engineer Juliette Nichols' introduction, were added after the novella was met with great success.)
Season 2 adapted the remainder of WOOL by chronicling Juliette's (played by Ferguson) trek to Silo 17, which in the wake of a long-ago rebellion now was home only to a paranoid man dubbed Solo (The Righteous Gemstones' Steve Zahn) and a few youths…..
