Season 5 of Ghosts delivered some major wins for Woodstone, but left the fate of a fan-favorite character uncertain in the two-part finale’s closing moments. Warning: Spoilers for the Ghosts Season 5 finale ahead!

Pete (Richie Moriarty), Woodstone’s resident arrow-skewered spirit, embarked on an important trip that finally revealed what happens when he strays too far from home for too long. As the Evercreek Water Company closed in on Woodstone, Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) scrambled to uncover a bit of historically significant information about their mansion to help designate it as a historical site, preventing it from being torn down or changed.

Ultimately, it’s revealed that Nancy (Betsy Sodaro) was a princess who had deserted her past life for the joy of civilian freedom. In order to help prove that chain of events, Sam and Jay are told by a historian (played by Saturday Night Live‘s James Austin Johnson) that they’ll need proof. That meant they’d have to travel to England and connect Nancy to her historical past with physical evidence….
