JokersUpdates.com: News Stand - 911 calls: Haitian father shot in head while driving children to church in Springfield, OH

A man who was shot in the head in his car on the south side of Springfield Sunday, July 5, appeared to have been on his way to church with his children, according to 911 calls.

The man, 51, who is Haitian, is listed in critical condition following the shooting, a city spokesperson confirmed.

Police responded to the shooting around 9:33 a.m. after three 911 calls described the man being shot in the head while sitting in his car. One of the calls was from someone who identified the man as their father. They said he was going to give someone a ride and “they just shot him. I don’t know why.”

The caller, as well as another caller who may have been the other person in the car, was upset, screaming and crying for help to hurry.

Another caller, who said she was sleeping in her home, said she heard someone say the n-word twice before she heard two or three gunshots. She said the victim was in his olive green SUV and had been struck in the head but was still breathing.

Rodney Oglesby, 42, was arrested shortly after the shooting on Fair Street after another report of shots fired near John’s Drive-Thru in the 800 block of West Main Street.

According to a law enforcement arrest report filed in Clark County Municipal Court, descriptions of the suspect in both cases matched Oglesby. Police collected three spent 9mm shell casings each at both scenes, as well as a 9mm handgun at the home on North Jackson Street.
