WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, said charges are coming for adults connected to a fight that turned deadly on Monday morning.

"There will be charges for the adults who stood by during this fight yesterday," WSPD Chief William Penn said in a video update on Tuesday. "After consulting with our district attorney. We will be charging those adults, although they're young adults, they're adults."

Two teenage boys, ages 16 and 17, died, and five other teenagers were injured in the shooting at a park. Those injured in the shooting ranged from age 14 to 18.

Penn said there are no other suspects. He did not share the names or specific charges of the adults involved.

Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O'Neill added that violent crime won't be tolerated.

"If you commit violent crime in this community, the police department and the sheriff's department will track you down," O'Neill said. "They will arrest you. You will be brought to court. And we will show no quarter. No mercy whatsoever. No violence will be accepted in this community."
