Prisons were created AFTER SLAVERY was made illegal, you do the math on that and why criminal sentences for simple things like stealing bread or stuff from Walgreens became felonies to change the justice system against communities of color. There is documentation of this, there are documentaries on this. It will change how you see prison forever because this just shows you that white men with privilege (money and power) can do the most horrendous things and get away with it. Including becoming the President of The United States just as long as he is white.
