Four Republican senators just BLOCKED Trump's attempt to strip Transgender people's right to vote - and he is furious. In the early hours of April 23, during a marathon overnight Senate session,
Republicans tried to use budget reconciliation - a process that bypasses the 60-vote filibuster - to jam key pieces of the SAVE America Act into law. The amendment failed 48-50. Senators Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Thom Tillis, and Mitch McConnell voted with every present Democrat to kill it. Here's why this matters for our community: The SAVE Act requires voters to present a passport or birth certificate to register - documents that often don't match the legal name or gender marker of transgender and nonbinary Americans. LGBTQ+ advocates have called it one of the most targeted disenfranchisement tools in a generation. It would create an ID checkpoint specifically designed to catch trans people in the worst kind of bureaucratic
trap.
