President Trump on Wednesday announced that he will end the National Guard deployments in Los Angeles, Chicago and Portland, adding that it is possible the troops could return at a later date.
“Portland, Los Angeles, and Chicago were GONE if it weren’t for the Federal Government stepping in,” he wrote on Truth Social. “We will come back, perhaps in a much different and stronger form, when crime begins to soar again – Only a question of time!”
The Trump administration, meanwhile, has turned its focus to a years-long fraud scandal in Minnesota, expanding the federal government’s presence in the state, as 2025 draws to a close.
Several agencies have taken action since a viral video about a day care center in Minnesota made headlines over the weekend, prompting criticism from some state leaders.
The Trump administration has also upped the ante in Venezuela after a recent CIA drone strike left the door open for additional action in the region. The military announced Wednesday that it struck an additional three alleged drug trafficking boats the day before.
