New York writer E. Jean Carroll is finally getting paid more than three years after a federal civil jury held President Donald Trump liable for sexually abusing and defaming her, allegations Trump continues to deny.
More than $5.6 million, including interest, was disbursed July 14 from funds Trump had to hand over to be held while he pursued his appeal, court records show. The move follows a couple of weeks of wrangling over whether Trump had reached the end of his fight against paying his accuser.
The U.S. Supreme Court decided not to review Trump's appeal June 29, and Carroll asked the Manhattan trial court to order Trump to pay the $5 million judgment the jury awarded her, plus interest. Trump fought that request, but a federal judge ruled July 8 that it was time for Trump to pay.…
