Trump Rushed Off Stage
• President Donald Trump was swiftly escorted off stage by Secret Service after shots were fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC, on Saturday. Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Cabinet members are all safe, sources said.
• “The shooter has been apprehended,” Trump said on social media, commending law enforcement for acting “quickly and bravely.”
• The president said he is heading back to the White House at the request of law enforcement and will give a news conference soon. He also said the dinner will be rescheduled within 30 days.
• CNN’s Wolf Blitzer was outside the main ballroom where the dinner was taking place when he heard gunshots from just a few feet away. Police officers ushered him to safety.
