Jagland served as Norway's prime minister from 1996 to 1997 and later held positions as foreign minister, secretary general of the Council of Europe, and head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee. Økokrim is now examining whether gifts, travel, and loans were received in connection with his official positions. Jagland denies all charges and says he is cooperating with investigators.
