Jeff Garlin is opening up about the mental health struggles he faced while filming The Goldbergs.
The 64-year-old revealed that he had a “nervous breakdown” at the end of his tenure on the long-running sitcom, which led him to a dark place. Prior to his breaking point, Garlin admitted that he had a “blowout” on set of The Goldbergs and had tried to negotiate an arrangement where he would only show up to film once a week, which he said caused “resentment” among the cast.
“I had a nervous breakdown and I was going to commit suicide,” he told host Ted Danson on Wednesday’s episode of SiriusXM’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name. “I reached out to Susie [Essman], and I said, ‘I hate when people don’t reach out, but at noon today, I will be dead. I’m letting you know I will be dead.’”
