When Donnie Wahlberg signed on to star in the Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue, he made a shocking proposition to the show’s higher-ups: a pay cut for himself.

Wahlberg was willing to give up half of his paycheck just to convince his bosses to film the offshoot in the show’s namesake, which is also his hometown, the actor explained during the April 23 installment of Andy Cohen Live! “[When] I got offered the job, I’m like, ‘This is a dream come true,’ because I thought, I’ll do a spinoff in L.A. or Vegas or Texas, somewhere hot. And they were like, ‘How about Boston?’ I was like, ‘Ahhhh.’ They hooked me.”

But before Wahlberg could get too excited about the idea of setting up shop in his beloved Beantown, “They were like, ‘But we can’t afford to shoot it in Boston. We’re gonna shoot it in Toronto.'”

So Wahlberg offered up a pretty shocking scenario for an actor: “I was like, ‘No, no.’ So I said, ‘Listen, I’ll give back 50% of my paycheck if we can go to Boston.’ I did,” he revealed. “And they said, ‘You can give back 100%, and so can the rest of the cast. We cannot film this show in Boston.'”….
