Will Boston Blue ever introduce the BPD police commissioner? I'm really curious to see how they make him (or her) different from Frank (Tom Selleck). --Craig
First, let's recap the BPD pecking order, seeing as the Blue Bloods offshoot often suggests the buck stops with Sarah Silver. Maggie Lawson's Sarah is a Superintendent of Investigative Services, overseeing multiple divisions within the BPD and based out of the Major Crimes floor where Danny and her sister work. Sarah reports to Superintendent in Chief Lannigan, who appeared in Episodes 8 and 19 (played by Ron Lea). In Season 2 premiering this fall, "We intend to keep telling stories involving Lannigan," co-showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis tell Inside Line, "and maybe one day we will introduce the Police Commissioner as well, who Lannigan would answer to. But for now, we love telling stories for Sarah that involve her navigating up and down the power structure within the BPD."
