My Quick Takes on 'Boston Blue' Break-Up, a Stealth 'La Brea' Crossover, 'NCIS: NY' and More

On Boston Blue, I thought that things would blow up more for Seth (and in turn Seth/Sarah) after he went so hard at Mae during that press conference. (After all, Mike Vogel has headlined a few TV series and "boyfriend/fiancé" seems a step down.) As for the Danny/Maria split, there simply was no avoiding this outcome — but to be clear, it 100% falls under "unforced error." This Blue Bloods "universe expansion" didn't have to establish with its pilot that Danny and his partner indeed had successfully pursued a relationship. And yet it did, while knowing that said romance surely couldn't persevere. It's easy to say, "Add Marisa Ramirez to the cast," but in doing so you'd be depriving a new show of an easy, attractive storytelling avenue (i.e. love interests for Danny). NYPD detective Danny Reagan relocating to Boston to "be there" for a son is a reasonable premise for a TV show; him doing so at the expense of a great relationship, one that was long in the making, is not…..
