Where does Paul stand in the pantheon of BB players? My take... 09/16/17 01:17 PM

*Putting my personal Paul dislike aside and looking at things objectively*
I'm remotely a Paul fan this season, but IF he makes it to F2 and wins, its difficult not to give him due credit as a true survivor of the game. Yes, even with the first 3 weeks safety, he deserves to be recognized as one of the better BB gamers. I'd put him in the top 5 best ever.
Its not easy making it from week 3 to the very end, when you have no other BB veterans to hide behind, IMO. I really thought he was done for in a week or two after his safety expired, yet here he sits at final 3, possibly beyond...AGAIN! Twice lucky? I personally don't think so. His social game is on point. If he had a lack of it--like Cody--he wouldn't be still sitting there at F3.
One could argue that fellow HGs didn't go after him because they were "star-struck" But is that really the case? He's not that big a BB luminary. Its not like he's a Dan or a Dr. Will!
One could argue that he's production's pet. For the sake of argument, let's go with true. How influential is production, though? Being a production favorite doesn't stop other HGs from targeting who they perceive as a threat, if they really want to do so, right?
Some might say "Well, he had an unfair advantage because a fellow HG(Raven)he's met outside the game is playing with him"
Yes, he has indeed met Raven before the game. But did she really have anything to do with him getting this far? I've asked myself that question and thought about it quite a bit, and I still remain unconvinced. Its not like she won comps and kept him safe. All she did was stick to Matt like a barnacle!
The fact that nobody said "Paul's safety is up, we have to take him out soon!" on week 4 proved he had a killer social game. Not only did he wiggle out of being targeted, he managed to take complete control of the game and survived all the way through. Not an easy task, IMO. He proved he could still get there without Victor. The stupidity of the HGs not to target him doesn't make him less of a player in my eyes. If he wins, he's earned my respect as one of the best BB players. Of course, he'll never be nowhere the league of Dan and Dr. Will, but he's one of the top 5 best.
Again, this is just my personal opinion.
A long-time BB fan
