LaTrice revealed that her uncle is Kool from Kool & the Gang, otherwise known as Robert Bell. In addition, her mother was the tour coordinator for Kool & the Gang.
The group has won two Grammy Awards and seven American Music Awards, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024. They've released 23 studio albums and almost 70 singles, and have sold over 70 million albums worldwide.

LaTrice also shared that she was a member of the three-time Grammy Award-winning group, Sounds of Blackness. According to her LinkedIn profile, LaTrice has been a singer and performer since 1985, touring nationally and internationally with Sounds of Blackness.
The group performs gospel, R&B, soul, and jazz music. LaTrice stated that she once met President Barack Obama, and he told her that he has Sounds of Blackness on his iPod and listens to their music daily. She gushed, "LOVE IT!!"

LaTrice also performed in the longest-running off-Broadway show, Mama, I Want to Sing!, which is based on the life and times of singer Doris Troy. In addition, she's written and performed numerous dance singles in the European market. LaTrice is also a published writer with Universal Music London. In her LinkedIn profile, she refers to herself as an "Inspiration-ista."
