Big Brother 28 did not ease into Week 2. It kicked down the door, formed a mega-alliance, refused to answer that same door when Rome rang the bell, and then turned Angela into an egg. A productive Friday, all things considered.
After Ashley’s unanimous eviction and Yash’s Block Buster win, Rick Devens took HOH and initially sounded open to a relatively quiet week. He reassured Yash, Taylor, Mallory, and even Rome in various conversations, while Rome tried to secure safety for himself, Lyric, and Jason. Melody, apparently, was negotiable. There is nothing quite like learning your alliance comes with a return policy.
But as the night stretched into morning, Devens traded the quiet option for fireworks. The Crossovers and Red Corner came together in the HOH room to form Tool Shed, because every Big Brother mega-alliance deserves a name that will sound ridiculous during a very serious whispered conversation.
The new group landed on Rome as the real target, with Jason, Lyric, and Melody serving as the opening nominees. The timing could not have been more awkward. While the group planned upstairs, Rome wandered below wondering where everyone had gone, then rang the HOH bell. Angela told the room not to answer, so they sat silently while their target waited outside. Subtle gameplay had left the building. It just could not get back through the locked door.
By morning, Rome’s side knew something was wrong. He warned Melody and Mallory that the house was dividing and urged them to stay close to Lyric. Lyric distrusted Drew for playing both sides, while Mallory grew increasingly alarmed that Barrett was avoiding her. They also began questioning Angela, who is friendly with everyone but clearly attached to something bigger. Correct diagnosis; slightly late appointment.
There was time for romance amid the panic. Lyric revealed that Rome told her he loved her the previous night and that she said it back. This relationship has now progressed from cuddling in a pod bed to exchanging declarations of love while both sides prepare for war. Very normal courtship.
Meanwhile, America sent Angela into the first BB Time Capsule. The challenge required her to spin in a chair and hit either “Power” or “Punishment” as the choices flashed past. Angela landed on punishment and returned wearing Vince’s giant Egg-Detective costume from BB27, complete with an oversized magnifying glass and restrictions that include no swimming. In less than 24 hours, she went from helping construct a backdoor plan to sweating inside a breakfast costume.
The costume did not soften her. When nominations were finally revealed, Devens put Jason, Lyric, and Melody on the block, two of the people Rome had asked him to protect. It was less a nomination ceremony than a reply-all.
The feeds returned to immediate fallout, including Angela and Jason arguing at the kitchen table. Their conflict traces back to Jason using an emotional conversation to gain Angela’s trust, then telling Drew enough for the story to travel straight back to her. Jason may have wanted leverage. Instead, he handed Angela a grievance, which historically has much better endurance.
Strategically, Devens has drawn the line early and made Tool Shed impossible to hide. He has numbers for now, but giant alliances often come with giant maintenance costs. Dee and Devens are already discussing Kamu as a social threat, Drew is quietly reassuring Melody, and several people within the new structure have relationships that reach across the divide.
Rome is still the intended target, but the plan is not finished. The veto will determine whether Devens can place him on the block, and the BB Block Buster means even a successful replacement nomination would not guarantee Rome stays there on eviction night.
For now, Devens has the power, Rome has the warning, and Angela has the shell. Week 2 is officially cracked open.
