So, how do we think the coaches are doing so far?
I think Britney is doing the poorest job as a coach, though on paper she had the best team after the draft. Dan clearly had the weakest team, and still does, and he's lost two players, but I think his coaching has been solid. Janelle and Boogie have both been doing great as coaches, especially Boogie. Janelle needs to stop making her favoritism of Wil too obvious, Joe and Ashley are probably fully aware that they are "spares". Boogie seems to have a firm handle on his team, and they are all playing a good game at this point.
But Britney has mishandled Willie, Shane and JoJo, I think. Britney doesn't seem to read people well, and I think that's been her downfall. She should have known that Willie's paranoia was already in the red zone, should never have told him her theory about the coaches entering the game. Also, she should have never told him that she was thinking of cutting him loose from her team in the Coach's Challenge. Her job as a coach is to make the best of the team she has, and she only magnified Willie's worst tendencies. She should have rallied Shane and JoJo to help keep Willie contained while he was still HoH, and she should also have worked more on her strategy with Shane and JoJo. If I was in Britney's position, I would have sent Shane to Boogie's team to get in good with them, with emphasis on getting in good with Frank and Ian, and would have sent JoJo to Janelle's team to get in good with them, targeting Ashley especially. Britney should have cultivated the APPEARANCE of a divided team, with Willie playing the lone wolf (but with the understanding that she, Shane and JoJo truly do have his back). If Team Britney looks like a fractured team to the rest of the house, then that takes a bit of the pressure off them, and it makes the other teams think they've got potential voting bloc partners to take each other out. If Team Boogie thinks they have Shane on their side, and Team Janelle/Dan think they have JoJo in their corner even against Shane, each of them is safer than they would be otherwise. She should encourage the appearance of disharmony, while cultivating a very strong unity within the group. And her true agenda, unbeknownst to her team, is to divide them. She needs spies in different camps so she knows where the cards lie, and with them scattered she has that.
Britney should NOT have written off Willie so quickly, especially since her own meddling is what set off the chain of events that put him in such poor standing with the house. If Willie hadn't called that house meeting after Britney's ill-conceived sharing of her theory, then the whole incident with Wil wouldn't have happened, and the bad blood between Willie and Frank might not have occurred, and Willie would be sitting pretty right now. Britney needs to recognize that a lot of the failure of Willie's game is on her too. I know no one can "control" Willie, but with a personality like that, you have to manage what information gets to him. If Britney was better at reading people, she would know that she needed to run interference for him constantly, and the Shane and JoJo had to do the same, while also getting in good with the enemy camps.
That's my MMQ of the game, anyway, feel free to gainsay my findings and offer your own.
