BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG TV9) --- Authorities are inspecting both the pickup truck and tractor involved in Monday's fatal crash involving former Bachelor star Chris Soules. Soules, 35, is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash. Prosecutors say Soules was driving a pickup that rear-ended a tractor about 8 p.m. Monday on Slater Avenue north of Aurora. Both the tractor and pickup ended up in a ditch. The crash killed the driver of the tractor, Kenneth Mosher, 66, of Aurora. Buchanan County Sheriff Bill Wolfgram says this area isn’t known for a lot of crashes.
Police say Soules had left the crash scene before officers arrived. Investigators found Soules at his home on B Avenue near Arlington, about 10 miles away from where the crash happened. It is not clear whether Soules walked away from the scene, if he drove himself or if someone gave him a ride.
Soules bonded out of jail Tuesday morning on a $10,000 bond after appearing in court Tuesday morning. Sheriff Wolfgram tells TV9 he doesn’t expect Soules to face any additional charges right now. Court documents show police found alcohol containers in the pickup truck at the scene of the crash. But the sheriff couldn’t say if Soules was drinking before or during the crash because that was part of the investigation.
