Dear Jokers,
I emailed a copy of this letter to Michael, but never heard back from him, hopefully he and the others read it and know we heard and saw it all. I want to thank everyone who gave me feedback on this, both here in the forum and also on the article this letter became, both the positive and negative. I like hate mails as much as the positivie ones, it lets me know I still live in a free country which is reassuring. Below are my final thoughs on the show itself and the alliances, it's time for me to move on to writing about other things now. Thank you all for reading what I write, it's an awesome feeling.
Final Post about the Show
friend·ship ( P ) Pronunciation Key (frndshp) n. A friendly relationship: formed many new friendships over the summer.
It's amazing that definition is actually in the dictionary. That's exactly what happened, they formed a friendly relationship over the summer and now summer is over and the chilly winds of fall are blowing. Maybe not as much as sweet little Jennifer is blowing, but... well that is another story. It seems the Friendship is one ship that is sinking and the rats are abandoning ship. Ivette is angry with April and Jennifer, April is angry with Ivette, Jennifer is just angry, Eric is angry with everyone, Beau is hanging out with the Sovereigns and Ivette thinks she should have aligned with Janelle. The only one that seems happy with herself is Maggie and of course, money cannot buy happiness, but it seems able to rent it for the length of time she is being interviewed. Sadly, once they all stop being angry, in a few weeks or months, they will not really feel like contacting the rest of the friendship, unless it is to do an appearance for television that is.
sov·er·eign ( P ) Pronunciation Key (svr-n, svrn) adj. Self-governing; independent: a sovereign state.
Maybe it was because they thought for themselves and didn't try to force each other to submit to group think that they have weathered the storm so well. The Sovereign 6 seem stronger than ever and like they will be true friends for many years to come, James and Sarah included. They had fun in the house, were honest within their alliance, with the exception of James, but they saw his lies as game play, maybe because they were not character assassination. In the house they had fun, loved, played, had serious and compelling conversations and even changed America's perceptions. Although they did not win the big money, I think they leave this experience having grown and learned and changed for the better. In the months and weeks ahead, I will love hearing snippets of news about the Sovereigns. These are people I would not mind meeting and getting into a conversation with.
This has been an intriguing summer, satisfying on some levels and completely frustrating on others. I embrace both emotions with open arms. For me, I love the villains and the good guys, they both make for fascinating television. The only people I really dislike are those who are boring, who give me nothing of interest to watch, who fly so far under the radar you would be hard pressed to even remember they were there at all. So even though I favored the Sovereign 6, I appreciate what Eric, Ivette and April brought to this season. Now I realize there were more members of the Friendship... but... hmmm... damned if I can remember who they are now and it's only been a few days since the end of the show and it's time to move on to Survivor and The Amazing Race.
