In keeping with a Rhodes family tradition, Kaitlyn Rhodes Duncan, will participate in this year’s Young Men Illinois Club Ball. The Rhodes family has had many Queens and Maids through the years, and Kaitlyn will be a Second Maid. Another custom? A party in her honor!
The theme was “Butterflies: Grow, Blossom and Transform” and the spring-like color scheme of purple, lavender, lime green and gold for the decorations was also reflected in the night’s fashions, though Kaitlyn’s dress was a stunning shade of champagne with silver and gold crystal accents, and she donned a tiara.
Held Jan. 11 at the Omni Royal Orleans, the party also featured music from Connie and Dwight Fitch, as well as DJ Freddie. Members of Kaitlyn’s family — parents, Gina and Omar Duncan; brothers Austin and Justin Duncan; grandmother, Sandra Rhodes Duncan; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins were among the partygoers, many of whom traveled in from out of town just for the party.
As the party wound down at the hotel, it was also just gearing back up, as Kaitlyn and the party guests second lined down St. Louis Street, with a limousine whisking the honoree and her friends to beignets to top off the night.
